Mystery Writing

18/11/15

I can hear the rain dropping on the roof, the drops are getting faster and faster as I hear it starts to turn into hail. I can tell that it's one of those Sundays that getting up early, it's just not going to happen, but i’ll have to at some point. I thought to myself that if i'm going to get up then the easiest way is to get someone to pull the covers off me. I shouted “China, come and pull the covers off me or else I won't be able to get myself out of bed today.” She came and chucked the covers onto the floor and left, I was just laying there in my bed shivering.

I quickly got off my mattress and put my clothes on then went to go get my socks and they weren't there? Where could they be? My whole sock collection drawers were all blank and had nothing in them. I quickly ran to the washing basket because my feet were freezing, they weren't there? I went to the clean clothes pile that I have to put away and they weren't there, where else could they be? I checked my sisters room (China) to see if she had even one pair of my socks but she doesn't, the only pairs of socks she has are size 4’s.

I went to ask my parents to see if they have my socks but then I remembered after walking halfway through the hall-way that they both are at work because they're on call out and they both got called to go to work early this morning. I was at home shivering until my sister said “why don't you call up one of your friends to see if you could borrow some of their socks?” I said back, “great idea i’ll do that now.” “Ring, ring, ring, ring and please leave a message after the BEEP!!!” Oh what am I going to do, It just hit me that what if i'm going to spend the whole day without my precious socks.

I sit on my naked bed because i'm too lazy to make it back up from when China chucked the covers off me and onto the ground, I have freezing cold feet and i'm just sitting there thinking about what I can do to get my socks back until I realised, they were stolen!!! I quickly ran to the phone and dialed 111 and told them everything about my nike socks collection and how a thief has stolen them from my drawers. it took a long time to persuade them that what I was saying was one hundred percent true, so they said “do we need to be there in a hurry,” and I said “YES be quick because my feet are freezing and I think that they're going to die and fall off.” I put down the phone and waited for them to arrive at my house.

I thought to myself while I was waiting for the police to arrive that I probably won't have to tell my parents because they don't wear socks so they probably won't care. I heard the siren come up my driveway so I was just preparing myself and telling my sister what I said to the police that everything will be ok and the thief we be in jail and hopefully die for stealing my possessions.

The police came through my door with all of their protective clothes on and I went to show them my drawers and all my socks were in there. I don't understand, I'm happy that their back but how did they get back there. One of the cops said, “you have wasted our time so we're going to charge you $50 because there could've been a real accident out there and we couldn't of help because of your stupid sock collection that was all fake.” After I paid the police, they left and I put on my socks and waited till mum and dad came home.

Athletics

Go TK,

Athletics is probably one of my favourite times in my school years and this year was probably the best.

My house is Te Kanawa. At the start of the day my house got split into two groups, TK girls and TK boys. As I was in TK boys my first activity was long jump. I didn't get a placing but it was really fun. My second activity was the 200m run.  Unfortunately, I couldn't participate in that activity because of my knee injury from gymnastics the night before. The next activity for TK boys was shot-put, as again I didn't get a placing because shot-put isn't really my sport but it was a really great experience.

My next activity was the vortex throw and 100m run. I really enjoyed the vortex throw and the running because even though I didn't get into the competing run I still got to run with my friends. The next place I went to wasn't an activity because it was the 'rest and have a break' area.

After about 30 minutes my group got told to go to the next activity which was my last activity before the relays. It was high jump, I was in the top high jump team but I only got 5th because my class only got one practice that whole week because the high jump was used by other classes. After the whole rotations went round and all the houses finished, the whole school came together and watched the house relay group run. I wasn't in the relay but I was proud to be in Te Kanawa because they won.

Thanks for reading my athletics report, I had such a fun time with my class mates and my friends.

George.

(Some of) My speech for the House competition

The majority of the world's humans start to change in their teenage years because of puberty. Physical, emotional and social. During this time, children’s bodies, emotions and identities change in different ways and at different times. Approximately 1 in 5 females and 1 in 7 males in their teens grow up to be Emo. Teenagers usually turn into an Emo if they're depressed or something's gone wrong in their family.
Emos are shy, have 'dark' moods, they wear black, they could sometimes have a lot of piercings, they dye their hair black or darker colours, and don't really talk that much. A lot of Emos cut themselves.
Each year, 1 in 5 females and 1 in 7 male emos cut themself.
90 percent of people who engage in self harm begin doing this during their teen or pre-teen years.
Nearly half of those who engage in self injury activities have been sexually abused.
Many of those who injure themself, search up stuff like: pro self injury websites
I think this is disgusting if people cut their self, DON'T YOU?
If people, OR YOU cut yourself because you get bullied or stuffs happening at home then don't be stupid, sort it out and don't take your anger out on yourself.
Flicking through the glossy fashion magazines, you will notice that some of the models do not look very well.
A few of them appear to be dead. This is because one of the key looks, especially at the younger end of the fashion spectrum, is Goth.
The internet has many sites dedicated to Emo fashion, dyed black hair brushed over your face, layering, black, black and black.
Faces are chalky white, eyes and lips black. You can wear any colour you like so long as it's black.

Matahiwi Marae visit

On the 22nd of June 2015, all the year 8s of Havelock North Intermediate came together and visited Matahiwi Marae.  When we walk onto the Marae and meet the tangata whenua, it's called a Powhiri, with girls in the front and boys in the back to protect them.
At the start of the Powhiri the lady from the tangata whenua side starts off the Karanga.
The Marae hosts were Whea Edwards, Matua Unahi and Matua Mulligan, the kaumatua.
At the Marae we learnt about the history and culture that the people were involved in the past.
We learnt about the legends, stories that happened 100+ years ago.

Whea Edwards talked to us in the whare Kai about the history of her big family and the Marae.
Matua Unahi talked to us in the Meeting House about the figure carvings of Kahungunu and his ancestors and relations, including Rongokokai (the legend of Te Mata Peak).

Matua Mulligan was talking to us on the outside of the Marae (the atea) on the seats about the statues and the ancestors of Maui.

What Make A Good Friend

Today I'm trying to prove to you what a good friend is.

A friend can be anything, it doesn't matter if it can't communicate to you or isn't a human as long as it respects you and is not mean to you. People have friends and then they have really good friends and those really great friends should stick up for you any time.

A good friend for me should be helpful, friendly, caring, nice and kind.
A really good friend should tell you what the right thing to do is and also tell you if something is wrong with you.

With Dogs, if you care for them they will hopefully care back for you.
If your dog needs a lot of exercise or needs to be fed very often, if you did all those things to your dog, it should start to like you more.

True friends be honest with respect so don't lose them.
So that is my impression on what a good friend is.

Modeling At Electronics

I used a bread board to connect components together without needing to solder them. I trialed different components to see which ones would be suitable for my alarm. I want my alarm to alert me when some one is in my draw.

Camp Letter

This is my letter to Brian for helping out for my classes camp.

24/3/15
Room 13
H.N.I

To Brian,

I would like to thank you for giving up your time to be a parent helper for room 13 and room 15’s camp. Thank you for taking the time to be available and join the three days of awesomeness. This camp at Weka Point wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for you and your participation in helping with activities and serving and cooking our food. My impression on the food was great but my food at home is better. My favorite activity was the Flying fox and the enormous water slide. The Flying Fox was amazing, it was so long and you felt like you were flying every time you were in the air or above the ground. The water slide was really bumpy but, it was such a great experience and such good fun.

Overall thank you for coming and making Weka Point, 2015 Camp possible.

Yours sincerely,
George.
